A Horror So Deep

Sometimes you can carry something deep, deep inside you. Carry it for a very long time. Sometimes you can carry something and not even know it's there. Sometimes you can carry something for so long that you forget you're carrying it. It becomes a part of you. Sometimes a lot of people can carry something about for a long time. Sometimes, somehow, these people all forget that this thing is there. Sometimes they even forget about it together!

As a little kid, the world is a new and exciting place. A place of wonder and joy. It can be a scary place too. Sometimes monsters hide under your bed at night. They hide behind the curtains. And in the cupboard with your toys. You never see them. But you know they're there. Your parents can usually make the monsters go away. Don't ask me how. It's just something parents do. They keep the monsters away. When your parents are there, nothing can go wrong. The world is a safe place.

Sometimes it happens that a scary story gets past your parents. Sometimes a scary story gets past your grandparents. Sometimes a scary story even gets past your great-grandparents!

Sometimes that scary story stays with you for the rest of your life!

Sometimes it gets passed on.
